How time flies

The last post here was about how Colleen and I were expecting. Since then almost a year and 9 months has gone by. Look at the photo album to see pictures of Zeke.

I knew Zeke wasn’t going to come with a manual and thus, I have been learning a lot. We read Dr. Harvey Karp’s book, The Happiest Baby on the Block. It was definitely worth reading. I still find myself applying some of the concepts taught in his book. I’m also learning about sleep patterns, diet and nutrition and even a little about discipline.

Zeke also teaches us things. Did you know meatballs taste better if you smash them? Food disappears if you put it in the cup holder. The cats will love you if you feed them chicken. All stacked blocks must be un-stacked. Books, CDs, DVDs, etc. do not belong on shelves. A box can be more fun than the toy that came in it. All drawers and bags need to be emptied of their contents. The cat door is not just for cats. Baby corrals really only corral adults.

I really enjoy watching Zeke play and discover new things. Zeke learned that he loves the water the first time we gave him a bath. He’s discovered that fountains are a lot of fun. Zeke has learned that pushing buttons will make certain things make noises and light up. He loves fireworks. It was fun to watch Zeke learn how to pick up items. It’s amazing to watch him examine new foods before he eats them.

Colleen and I have been totally enthralled watching these moments and more. Just last week Zeke said, “Bye-Bye” it was the cutest thing. Before that, he waived bye-bye. And the cats taught him how to crawl, now he doesn’t stop!

The biggest thing I’ve learned is to enjoy the moments. They only happen once. That is how time flies.

In the time that has passed since the honeymoon, a lot has happened. The most important is that Colleen and I are expecting our first baby boy. We are very excited. Mom (Colleen) is feeling much better now that we are into the second trimester and Daddy (me) is very proud and excited.

I have been busy making sure Colleen can get lots of rest and preparing the nursery. That means I’ve been cooking and cleaning the kitchen for most meals among other things. I said I have been preparing the nursery. What that really means is that I’ve moved a bunch of stuff around in the office so it can become the guest room. I’m hoping to have the new guest room/office finished up by the end of the month.

I also added some of our ultra sound pictures to the photo album on the web site.

The wedding was beautiful, and we want to thank everyone who helped us, put up with our stresses, and loved us through this process! Where am I going? Well, hopefully I can shed a little light on the answer to that question. Colleen has found a wonderful mapping tool to help us help you figure out how to navigate Orlando.

Just go to: http://www.weddingmapper.com/oviedo/fl/visit/0us76z. On that web site, you can get directions to the church where we are getting married. You can also get directions to the reception. We added some of our favorite restaurants and places to go too.

You might want to have some coins or cash on hand if you plan to travel any of the following toll roads: 408/Express Way, 417/Greenway, 429, 528/Beachline, or Florida’s Turnpike. If you want to avoid the toll roads be sure to plan some extra travel time, especially if you are departing around the rush hour.

13.1 and 40

We have just returned from Jacksonville, FL where I completed my very first Half-Marathon. That’s right! 13.1 miles in the raging heat with no shade…. It was one of the biggest moments of my life to come across that finish line. What a rush! Brian was there for me along the route, cheering me on and giving me the encouragement I needed to keep going. Amy also ran the half, and did fantastic! Thank you, Amy, for inspiring, encouraging and coaching me through this! Today as I sit here and try to stretch my aching muscles and nurse my blistered feet, I realize there are 40 days left until our wedding! There is so much to do, and so much excitement. Boxes have invaded my apartment and are taking over. Everyone tells us to enjoy this time, and today I feel like I can. Looking forward to the future with my husband to be, and looking towards the next 13.1… to be announced!

Merry Christmas! Brian and I are looking forward to a wonderful (and hopefully snow-filled) Christmas in New Hampshire. Please pray for Brian as he travels back to Orlando and on to Lake Worth and his parents on Christmas Eve. We hope and pray that each of you have a joy filled Christmas and a very Happy New Year!

Giving Thanks

The holidays have arrived and we are in full swing wedding planning! Lots of things happening around us. Brian is now an uncle, Baby Caiden was born to Tim and Christy (Brian’s brother) last Thursday, Novemeber 15th. We are headed to Lake Worth to spend Thanksgiving with his folks and then here comes Christmas!!! Things we are thankful for: God’s provisions for our lives, wonderful families, fabulous friends, a healthy baby for Tim and Christy, and each other!
