The Engagement

Her story:
Brian surprised me with a beautiful dinner at Manuel’s on the 28th in downtown Orlando. The restaurant is at the very top of the Bank of America building with a gorgeous view of the city. After dinner and dessert, he proposed! He got down on one knee and asked, “Colleen, will you marry me?” I said, “Yes!” and the people around us began clapping. It was a night we will never forget!

His Story:
I really wanted the proposal to be a surprise. I had purchased a beautiful engagement ring in May for Colleen. I probably started “planning” the proposal in April.

Since I wanted the proposal to be a surprise, I didn’t tell any of Colleen’s friends what was going on. In fact, I think only one of her friends knew I had purchased a ring.

So, I decided that I wanted to take Colleen out for a really nice dinner. I found out that there is a really nice restaurant on the 28th floor of the Bank of America building in downtown Orlando. I made reservations for July 27th. They asked what the occasion was, but I didn’t tell them that I was planning to propose in the restaurant.

The day had finally arrived. I went to pick up Colleen for a “special date.” She didn’t know how special it truly would be. After we ate dinner and desert, I finally figured out how I was going to actually propose. So, I started to tell her that most men realize at some point in their relationship that they are dating the woman they were going to marry. For me that was while we were at the airport, waiting for our flight to New Hampshire, where I would meet her family. We were sitting on the floor playing checkers and I just knew that one day, we’d be old and gray playing checkers, waiting for a plane.

Anyways, after saying all that, I got out of our nice cozy booth overlooking the city, and I got down on one knee. At this point Colleen was in shock as I said, “Colleen will you marry me?” After she caught her breath, she said, “Yes! Oh, yes.” The people around us all started to clap and the waiter brought us some champagne.
